Pain (emotional or physically) can be dealt with more easily if it is acknowledged.

Monday morning
Strategy (I wish): at the end of the working day on Friday, just clear everything that's (metaphorically and actually) on my desk into the wastebin. If it's important, it'll resurface. Anything would be better than coming in on Monday morning, having a few desperate issues in my mind which need action, and discovering that my to-do list contains a whole lot of other issues which want to be acted upon, and it's just impossible, and I want to go home.

you can't deal with anything that you do not acknowledge. this is why pain management relies on the validation of the person's pain.
